CS/UX Portfolio
I’ve worked with clients such as People Magazine, Time Inc., Barnes & Noble, Mercedes, Aetna, Viacom, and the Boston Public Library. Here, you can see examples of my deliverables, including roles in UX, content strategy, and product management.
Product Management and Creative Direction:
Barnes & Noble.com | My Seller Account
My Seller Account allows independent booksellers to list their inventory on BN.com through a completely redesigned, innovative, and beautiful web application. This year-long project included everything from blue-sky brainstorming to user testing to UX/design to back-end system integration. I was the product owner and UX lead.
Barnes & Noble.com | Rare & Collectible Books
My first project at BN.com was the creation and implementation of the Rare & Collectible division. This included project scoping, strategy, UX, creative direction, collection curation, and content development. I was the product owner and UX lead.
The Orphaned Starfish Foundation
The redesign for The Orphaned Starfish Foundation included end-to-end services such as strategy, user experience, creative design (including logo), photography, copywriting, and technical build. I lead this project.

Rise | A Community Service Partnership
The main concept for Rise’s site was to display their services while making the donation process more interactive. We gave them a shopping cart, a new concept for nonprofits. This site won a 2009 Silver W3 Award. I lead this project.

UX Test Kitchen
The UX Test Kitchen site began as an idea on the back of a napkin (see below). The main hero area is both the navigation and the user’s location indicator. This site won a 2009 Silver W3 Award and a 2009 Silver Davey Award, both for navigation. I lead this project.

Content Strategy & Library Science:
Viacom Metadata Schema
This semantic metatdata schema was developed to deliver relevant, suggested content based on a user’s pop culture preferences. I was the content strategist on the project.
Taxonomy and Metadata for UXers Presentation
I am, at heart, primarily a taxonomist, and have done taxonomies for brands such as BN.com, People.com, Aetna, and Amway. (They are too text-heavy for a portfolio, so just email me for a sample.) This presentation explains the basics of how to create a taxonomy for most content management systems, specifically targeting people in the interactive industry and user experience.
UX Test Kitchen Navigation
The UX Test Kitchen website - with its innovative navigation strategy - was conceptualized at a bar on the back of a napkin! It was then developed into a three template wireframe set. The live site is featured above, and has won four awards. I lead the project, including UX and creative direction.
MARC Record
This original, Level I, Dutch, MARC record was created for the John Adams Library for OCLC and the Boston Public Library. It follows DCRB, AACR2, etc.

Marizon Zimmer Bradley Primary Bibliography
This bibliography began as an assignment in graduate school, and grew into a two-year, coast-to-coast research project - including unpublished fanzines, articles, and works under pen names. It is the only complete bibliography on Bradley, and one of the most thorough on any science fiction/fantasy writers. I’m pretty sure no one uses it, but it was a beautiful and extraordinary labor of love - and I learned more about research from this than through any other class or project.
